Drew’s Story

Drew Magliozzi and his wife Rya chose Concord as the place to raise their children, Rafi and Sela, who attend Willard School. They were attracted to Concord’s history of civic participation which shapes how residents connect and care for each other. Raised by parents who met in Americorps VISTA, Drew learned early that public service and public education are the foundations of strong communities. A Harvard graduate, he brings both deep education experience and a commitment to thoughtful, empathetic leadership to the School Committee.

For the past decade, Drew led Mainstay, an ed tech company helping colleges use AI-enhanced coaching to close achievement gaps for underserved students. He founded Mainstay on the belief that every student deserves access to the support and resources they need to succeed. Before that, he founded and ran a tutoring company for 10 years and served on the nonprofit board of Cambridge School Volunteers.

Drew loves Concord and knows the community can strive to do even better together. Challenges like confronting antisemitism and racism to navigating technology's role in education call for leaders willing to lean into difficult conversations with curiosity, respect, and a genuine commitment to finding solutions that work for all families.

Drew’s Top Three Priorities

Closing Achievement Gaps

Every student deserves the support they need to thrive. Drawing on a decade of experience helping colleges close achievement gaps, Drew will bring data-driven insights and proven strategies to help the School Committee strengthen policies and technology implementations that narrow, rather than widen, disparities in student outcomes.

Confronting Hard Truths Together

The ADL case and recent racist incidents have been painful for many families in Concord. Drew believes we cannot address religious, racist, or gender-based discrimination alone, but can face these uncomfortable truths together. By accepting responsibility, holding space for all perspectives, and listening deeply, Drew is committed to working toward a school community where every student and family feels safe, seen, and supported.

Leading with Empathy

Drew's father and uncle (co-hosts of NPR's Car Talk) taught him that the best solutions come from listening carefully, asking good questions, and bringing levity to hard problems. He pledges to bring that same spirit of respect, curiosity, and generosity to the School Committee, ensuring decisions serve all of Concord's families, today and tomorrow.
